The Province of BC has a new MVA Regulation coming into effect October 1, 2010 that requires emission reduction devices on commercial vehicles of model years 1989-1993, however, Emergency Vehicles are specifically EXEMPT. The circular explaining the requirement and showing the exemption is at http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/cvse/diesel_retrofit/index.htm Not all departments may be aware of the regulation or the exemption so this should be circulated to our members so they do not needlessly spend $2,000 on an upgrade that is not required. Thanks to Ric Raynor, Fire Chief / Director of Emergency Services, for sharing this information. |
