What is the EVTA of BC PDF Print E-mail

In 2001 Kamloops Fire Rescue held their first Emergency Vehicle Mechanics Conference, starting an annual event, which has continued to draw mechanics from all over BC. It was at these events that the seeds for EVTA of BC were first sown. In 2005, Captain Neill Moroz of Kamloops Fire Rescue encouraged the mechanics to take the conferences to the next level and form an organization. Neill had been a supporter of our conferences for all these years and along with technicians Brad Smith and Al Boon had been organizing the annual events. His suggestion to take it to the next level made a lot of sense. At the Annual Conference in Kamloops in September of 2006, the first meeting of the EVTA of BC was held. With overwhelming support from the mechanics in attendance our executive was formed and the structure of our organization was adopted. By spring of 2007 Emergency Vehicle Technicians Association of BC became a non-profit Association registered with the BC government with a constitution and bylaws to support our mandate.

The intent of the EVTA of BC is to ensure the annual training conferences and workshops continue thus providing a place to network, enhance skills and further training for already licensed mechanics as well as provide good basic training and advancement for non-licensed and semi-skilled maintenance personnel. The EVTA of BC endorses the Emergency Vehicle Technicians Certification Program.

The EVTA of BC became web accessible in the fall of 2007 increasing networking by providing online discussion forums and providing excellent opportunity for "all" parties to exchange information and ideas. As we continue to grow, EVTA of BC invites technicians to join, participate and learn with us.
