Message from the President – Member’s Update – Spring, 2021

I would like to thank all of you for your continued patience and understanding as we continue to follow the Provincial Guidelines and Orders in place due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.   The following is an update provided for the members of this Association while we wait for Provincial Orders to lift and new guidelines introduced that will allow us to resume our annual training event.

Training Seminars:

The 2021 Training Seminars is cancelled.  Although we are seeing some restrictions starting to ease as vaccines are administered, we are still a long way off from being able to plan and host our next event. The Board members continue to monitor the situation as it evolves and are ready to go to work to plan the next training event as soon as we are able.  Progress reports will be posted on our website as it is known.

 2021 Membership Dues:

To assist our members during the pandemic, the EVTA of BC Board has decided to forgive the 2021 membership dues that would normally have been billed for in January.   As such, the invoices for membership dues (renewals) will not be sent out this year.   We will continue to take new applications for membership and the $60 membership fee will still apply for new members.

EVT Certification – Study Material and Exams:

Joanne has been receiving some inquiries about EVT Certification and testing.   Please note that the Emergency Vehicle Technician Certificate Commission administers the certification process for EVTs as well as a list of the proctored test sites where you can register to write your exams.  Their website (see link below) contains a great deal of information about the EVT Certification Program, learning tracks as well as links to reference and the study material.  This certification program is the same for both Canadian and U.S. technicians, and you must be registered with their organization to work your way through the process.

Membership and Website Information:

Joanne will be updating the EVTA of BC website as new information is provided to her.  If your organization has any employment opportunities to post, please send her the details as we have a career section on our website to offer free-of-charge.

In Closing:

Please continue to refer to the EVTA of BC website for updates about training seminars and other important information concerning the activities of your Association.

If your contact or email information has changed, please notify Joanne directly so that your information can be updated.  Her email address is

On behalf of the Board member, I would like to wish you all a Happy Spring!  We sincerely hope that you will take this time of seasonal renewal to spend some well-deserved time with your friends and loved ones as the social limitations of the pandemic slowly start to improve.  Stay safe!
